How do I know this for sure?
All one needs to do is compare the control layout. The old layout did not have the mid-frequency switch; it had 5 knobs as shown in this Bartolini MK2 Control layout.

With the Ibanez BTB776PB you get a unique Poplar Burl top which complements its warm Mahogany body. Right away you're getting high end tone woods that are normally found in more expensive guitars. Bartolini himself worked exclusively with Ibanez . . .
