Kent Armstrong Vintage Jazz Bass Pickups Not your everyday vintage jazz bass pickups. These are HOT vintage jazz bass pickups~! Following the introduction of the hum-canceling split-P pickup, the now classic Jazz Pickups have a characteristic single coil tone which has an added bonus: since they're wound and magnetized opposite each other, they cancel hum when used together at the same volume! The string never leaves the magnetic field due to having 2 Alnico V polepieces surrounding each string. |
Select whether you want your pickup with an open or closed cover. Also note that the Bridge pickup is slightly longer than the Neck pickup.

Kent Armstrong HOT Vintage P Bass Pickup D.C. resistance = 10.6K. Alnico Magnet: 5mm W X 14mm L
If it isn't broke, don't fix it. When introduced in 1957, the split-P pickup was a breakthrough in ways that many people didn’t appreciate. The string never leaves the magnetic field due to having two polepieces surrounding each string. This design minimizes hum while retaining clarity of a single coil since there is no phase cancellation. With Alnico V pole pieces and open black covers. Fits standard P Bass rout.

Kent Armstrong MusicMan Stingray Bass Pickup - The Stingray is a modern classic, but until now finding a suitable replacement pickup has been difficult. With far less magnetic pull than original models, ours has full-length bar polepieces to get every bit of string vibration no matter how hard you play. |
Having similar output and tone to the stock unit, this improved version has enough output to be used in a passive mode, without a preamp. For authentic Stingray tone, however, a low impedance buffer preamp is recommended. Also suggested is a series/parallel switch or push/pull pot to get the two distinctly different tones available by the widely spaced coils in this pickup. 3.532" x 1.920" 4 conductor wiring allows coil splitting, series/parallel, phase inversion, and more.

Kent Armstrong 4 or 5 String Soapbar Bass Pickups - Ceramic Magnet / D.C. = 15.8K ohms Model HB4E3B 4/5 string pickup is a classic soapbar with great tone. It can be used either active or passive mode, alone or in pairs. |
In parallel there is the characteristic *click* of a Stingray when popped, and in series it has the full, round growl of many classic bass Pickups. The full-length bar pole-pieces allow any string spacing up to 95mm to be used and play as hard as you wish without the fear of pulling a string out of the magnetic field. The widely spaced coils sample a fairly long section of the string, giving a high-tech bass sound. Great for 4 or 5 string bass builders and custom mods! 100.8mm x 35.8mm. 4 conductor wiring allows coil splitting, series/parallel, phase inversion, and more.

Kent Armstrong Split Tube Chrome Jazz Bass Pickups - D.C. resistance = 10.3K ohms Alnico 5 Bar Magnet: 78mm L x 4mm TH x 15mm W
Upgrade the performance and the look of a Jazz Bass with our Split-Tube Jazz Pickups. Warmer, fuller, and slightly louder than the standard pickup, you'll also find this retro-looking design has all the clarity you need for any style of playing. |
Like the originals, they come in treble and bass position models which are slightly different in length and the treble is reverse wound/reverse polarity so they cancel hum when used together. Direct fit into standard Jazz Bass rout with no modification required.
NOTE: I have had a few folk write to complain about "scratches" on the chrome casing of the pickups. Breathe easy~! There is a layer of protective plastic covering the top of these pickups. Hey guys and gals . . . you can remove this.
