Stellartone ToneStyler Passive Bass Preamp
Replace your tone pot with the Tonestyler. It's simple to install, works with all passive bass pickups and no batteries required~! That's what's stated on the StellarTone website. I don't look at this as a true preamp. I see it more like a Tone Pot on steroids. It'll provide clearer tone in all positions.

The Secret Life of Pots - As electronics tinkerers, we all use potentiometers, or "pots" for short. We count on them to control all our musical gear, and quite often get frustrated by their limitations. As in all relationships, a little understanding goes a long way. Let's take a look at how pots work so we can use them better.

Push Pull Pots are potentiometers with switches installed on the bottom to the pot chassis. The stem of the pot can be pulled to activate the switch. The most common varieties are SPST (single pole single throw) on/off and DPDT (double pole double throw) on/on. They're very useful for adding coil splits and series/parallel wiring to humbucker loaded guitars without altering the look of the guitar. They have numerous other uses as well and can be used any time additional switching is required.
