Choosing frets or fret wire for playability is purely a matter of personal preference, although some scientific facts may be involved. If preference
is for tone, sustain, and ease of play, then large (jumbo) fret sizes are what you may want. But, if you need your fingers to touch the board, like some guitarists turned bassists tend to be, stick with the smaller profiles. |  |

Premium Quality 18% Nickel Silver Bass Guitar Fretwire
The finest 18% hard nickel/silver to give long life with steel strings. The composition of this fret wire, while called "nickel/silver", contains no silver at all. The ingredients are brass and nickel.
Frets can lose anywhere from .005 to .010 in height after normal installation and leveling.
High Fret Wire has a crown height of .045 or more; it offers more sustain, and more redressing can be done before replacement becomes necessary.
Low Fret Wire height, .036" and .047", is perfect for partial refretting to match large worn frets.
• All Fret Wire tangs listed here are for .020" to .023" wide slots.
• Fretwire is available in different crown widths and heights.
• Six feet is needed for a typical refret job on a bass guitar.
