String Change & Setup Only
Here's a perfect example of when a customer only wants a Setup and no other upgrades. Normally, I don't list these maintenance-only type projects because there's really nothing to show. But frankly, I'm tired of explaining what it costs for just a Setup so here ya go.
Full Setup includes installation of strings, adjustments of neck relief, initial tuning, string height, 2nd octave intonation, and pickup height for maximum output. Also included while the strings are removed is cleaning, sealing, polishing, buffing, and tuner adjustment (if necessary) and lubrication.
For this Service I receive $100 minimum Shop Time labor.
Any Parts are extra, including the Strings
The main reason I put up this page is many are confused and think I only charge $50.00 for the Setup Only Service. While it is true that other bass guitars are offered with this $50.00 Setup charge, it is not for the SX bass guitars. The reason is because the extent of the work that I put into the setup of these basses. Other brands of basses have not needed this extent so I have not been charging more than is necessary.
Here's the good part: When you have other services performed, in particular, work performed on the fretboard, as in a Partial Fretjob ($100.00), I reduce the charge of the Setup because I have to do this as part of the Partial Fretjob. But the extra time is involved which has to be charged to Shop Time, so this is where you'll save money on the Setup of SX basses.
So, in order to receive the Setup price of $50.00 on an SX bass guitar, you will need to be having other services and/or upgrades performed.
I also, in my own discretion, can choose to reduce your labor cost at any time, just as I also have the right to refuse to do any services at all.
Many who have had work performed seem to enjoy the amount of money I do not charge when they're having many services, upgrades, and parts purchased. Basically, the more you are having done to your bass, the more you will save.
The value of your SX will be compared to that of a Custom Shop Fender (well over $1000) while seldom does Buzzard's Services cost you more than half that price~!
I strongly advise you know what you want before asking me a gazillion questions. Please do your reasearch. You can find answers to your questions on many of the Completed Projects. You'll at least be better prepared to discusss your Project when you're ready to buy your SX Bass.
