SOLD to Scott Monahan
Now it's on with the upgrades starting October 1st, 2008

All work has stopped on 10-10-08: a new SX SPJ-62 3TS Fretless has been bought to replace the used body with a new one for Scott.

Rondo Music

Complete Disassembly: underway at 10:30PM. Completed: 11:30PM

Bodywork: The issues requiring rework are the control cavity needs routing to allow for the larger CTS tone pot, the extra strap button holes at the base, and thumb rest holes which I'll have to fill and finish.
10-02-08: Taped off tone control area in prep for routing . . . 4:00PM

Body Finish: Polishing and buffing existing 3-Tone Sunburst finish.

Pickguard: Black. Copper foil shielding applied to back side to cover cavities.
9-24-08: Drilled two extra screw holes at the control area to help stiffen the loose area. When operating the controls without, the tendency was to lift the pickguard.

10-01-08: Ordered black pickguard material I'll use to make a new pickguard.
This was originally for the SPB-62 but I located one last night at TalkBass.
10-06-08: Pickguard material arrived. I'll need to make a routing template or very carefully cut it with a fine saw and then file.

Bridge: Replacing SX with Leo Quan Badass II bridge: ordered: 9-29-08
Received on 10-1-08 but they delivered with unslotted saddles.
Contacted my source to order slotted saddles - NFG ~ will hafta file slots.
Remove Bridge Cover and fill/refinish screw holes. (I wish I never added this~!)

Strap Locks: Schaller chrome - Ordered 9-29-08. Arrived 10-02-08
Install with rubber grommets as none arrived with the schallers.

Neck: 10-06-08: Taped off neck, set neck into jig, straightened (level) via truss rod, found 8 frets high in different locations along the board (not bad - a few thousandths on three were the worst), leveled using 14° radius block, recrowned frets and dressed ends, radiused board edge 1/16", polished frets with 800 & 1000 grit sandpaper, polished frets . . . both necks are done up to this point.
Still need to condition board, degloss neck back, seal with wax and buff upon final assembly (after nut work & headstock painting).

Headstock: Paint face black

String Nut: SX plastic nut is being replaced with Corian.

Strings: D'Addario EXL220 Super Light Strings 40-60-75-95: ordered 9-29-08
Scheduled delivery date: 10-06-2008 . . . Strings arrived 10-06-08

Tuners: SX chrome machines have been disassembled and teflon shims will be installed (if necessary), then waxed and buffed prior to reassembly.

Full Setup includes installation of strings, adjustments of neck relief, tuning, string height, intonation, and pickup height for maximum output. Also included is cleaning, sealing, polishing, buffing, and tuner lubrication. Low action.

Electronics: Passive. Hot Rod PJ Wiring.

Pickups: SX P-bass Pickup and SX Jazz Bridge Pickup

Controls: V-V-T. Replace SX control pots with CTS brand pots, Orange Drop cap and a Switchcraft jack. Control cavity requires routing for the larger CTS tone pot.

Cavities: Remove copper foil shielding in control cavity to route tone pot area.
