Jazz Thru-Body Neck Bolt-On Thru-Body Design

May 23rd: Fender necks don’t feel as nice to me as SX profiled ones do. I need slightly chunkier than J necks but not typical P bass thick. The Fender Jazz Special has a P width nut but Jazz profiled neck. My preference is like opposite that, chunkier neck with slim nut profile. Pretty much how SX Jazz necks are! ~ Dave

Buzzard: You have a bunch of SX necks still? Find one that you like and send it to me to duplicate. The neck is the most critical part of this, or any, build . . . taking radius dimensions approximately every 1/4" to 1/2" is the way I duplicate. Otherwise I just do it by feel and to my hand; but I ain't you.

Wood Species: Berlinia will be used for necks only. It's a change in plans whereby Buzzard's Bass and Dave's bass get use of the quartersawn stock.

Headstock: Bender . . . fenderish with deeper break angle.
All the headstock work will be shown in the photos above for the Neck Work.

Truss Rod: 23.5 Dual Action - $15.00 - SEE Neck Work for TR insertion work.

Straight bit (.25") used to route main channel.
Cove bit (.375") used to route nut channel

Truss Rod Cover: nope, maybe, probably not . . . they never seem to look right on Fender style basses.
